About Copenhagen

The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen is one of the liveliest Scandinavian cities, partly because of its many harbours and seafronts. The Nyhavn district is the busiest and most charming part of town, with its Medieval and Rennaisance-era architecture and its many cafes and restaurants. You can also take a boat tour here, hopping into one of the boats encircling the harbor.

Copenhagen is the largest city of Denmark with its population of 1.2 million people. Noteworthy because of its expansive gardens and parks, the city attracts many tourists who flock to sites such as the Rosenborg Castle, the National Museum of Denmark, the Nyhavn district, the Citadel (Old Town), Christiania, and Tivoli Gardens.

Winters in Copenhagen are cold, and summers lukewarm. Therefore, the best time to visit Copenhagen is the summer when the sun sets very late. Not only will you be able to enjoy weather that is not too hot, but also experience long days where twilight extends for many hours into the evening, only becoming totally dark after midnight.

Transportation from the airport into the city center by bus or metro is extremely easy. Public transportation is widespread and very easy to use, but taxis are expensive. As it is one of the European cities with the highest living standards, one should be reminded that food and drinks are relatively expensive as well.

Transportation to Copenhagen City Center from Airport

Copenhagen Airport

It’s very easy to travel from Kastrup Airport to the centre of Copenhagen, which is just 8 km away. It’s possible to use a taxi, bus, train, take the metro, or use other public transportation methods. It’s also possible to rent a car.

Taxi

Your first choice in getting from the airport to the centre might be to take a taxi. You can easily reach the city centre by grabbing a taxi from Terminal 2 or 3. It’s possible to pay the taxi fare by card as well as with cash. If you’re planning to go on to Sweden then you should take one of the taxis that leave from Terminal 3.

Train

Trains are one of the more economic options. It’s really easy to reach the city centre by taking a train from the station in Terminal 3. You can reach Terminal 3 in just 5 minutes with one of the free shuttle buses that are part of the transport system within the airport. You can get your tickets from the station and reach most places in Denmark and Sweden by train.

Metro

Another economic option is to take the metro. You can catch it from Terminal 3 and it should take you comfortably to the city centre. There’s a metro every 5 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes in the later evening hours. You can go to many places in Copenhagen with the metro. Tickets are available at the station.

Bus

There’s a large number of buses departing from the airport, and also shuttle bus services at the airport which can help you get from terminal to terminal.

Car Rental

Car rental is another option aside from public transport or taxis. You can rent a car from the agencies that are located in both Terminal 2 and 3 at the airport.

You can choose to rent a car with a driver if you wish. Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Budget and Sixt. are among the car rental agencies you can choose from.
