Banda Aceh, the capital of Indonesia's Aceh province, is located on Sumatra Island. Banda Aceh is located in the tropical climate zone and the temperature is measured around 27 degrees Celsius on average in a year. Although June, July and August are considered relatively dry, the city receives plenty of rain every year and has a very humid atmosphere.

The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, with a capacity of nine thousand people, is located in the heart of the city and is considered a symbol of the city. Gunongan Historical Park is a beautiful place worth seeing in the city. The Aceh Museum, one of the oldest museums in the country, houses historical and cultural artifacts and hosts a large collection.

There are three different beaches in Banda Aceh that can be reached in 15-20 minutes by car. Lhok Nya Beach is not recommended for swimming because it can be dangerous. Ujong Batee Beach is very convenient to swim. Lam Puluk Beach is particularly preferred by tourists and suitable for surfing.

The Banda Aceh cuisine is a mix of Arab, Indian, Siamese, German and Spanish culinary cultures. Mie Aceh, a kind of noodle, Martabak Aceh, a kind of pastry, and Ayam Tangcap, a chicken dish, are among the recommended local dishes. Coffee consumption is also very common and there are many places where coffee can be enjoyed in the city.
