Transportation to Airport from Mashhad City Center

It is incredibly easy to get to Mashhad airport without a transfer thanks to bus or city trains in the modern city of Mashhad where bus transportation is very developed. In addition to buses and trains, which are the main means of transportation in the city, you can get a much faster and more comfortable service by taking advantage of taxi or car rental services.

Train

There are many train services to nearby and big cities such as Tehran from Mashhad train station. The train journey from Tehran to Mashhad takes about 10-14 hours; Kerman-Mashhad takes 14-16 hours. The Mashhad railway station is located in the Azadi street north of Imam Raza Shrine. There are also suburban and express trains that provide transportation within the city of Mashhad, as well as trains going out of town.

Popular stops for urban suburban trains include Neyshapor, Shahrod and Semnan. The suburban or express trains that provide transportation within the city are also referred to as metro or city trains. Line 2 and Line 3 of the city train, where only one line (Line 1) is available, will be available soon. The Line 1 line provides fast and economical transportation services between the eastern and western part of the city.

Reza's Shrine, one of the most important central spots of the city, is one of the stops of Line 1 which is operating between Vakilabad with Ghadir st. (Nakhrisi). It is possible to get to Mashhad Airport, which is 5.1 kilometers from the center, within 10-15 minutes with Line 1 train from the city.

Bus

Mashhad main bus terminal is at the end of Imam Reza Boulevard. There are many bus routes within the city that provide transportation services. 17 different buses with different routes offer transportation to almost every part of the city. The bus, on south route number 84, departing from the stop next to Falakeh Ab, goes directly to the Mashhad main bus terminal. Buses 13, 62 and 94 also pass through Park Mellat, one of the most famous places of Mashhad. Another popular bus line is bus number 210 and its main stops are Nader Shak and Shohoda Sq.

At the same time, there are night buses in the city that provide transportation during certain hours of the evening. Especially bus no. 10 is one of the buses with the most popular routes but you have to pay twice the normal ticket price if you want to use the night bus.  

Taxi

There are many private and shared taxis you can use within the city of Mashhad. If you prefer to take a taxi to Mashhad airport from any point in the city, you can call Central Taxi Org, one of the popular companies. The cost of transportation from city to Mashhad airport by taxi is around 8-10 TL.

Car Rental

For car rental companies, there are more options within the city of Mashhad compared to the airport. But if you rent your car from a known international company, you can deliver your rental car at the airport and continue without losing time.

Mashhad Airport, which is also known as Shahid Hashemi Nejad Airport, is located at the end of Bolvar-e Jumhuri-e Eslami, which is close to the city center; in Iran's Razavi Khorasan province.

The number of passengers served by Mashhad Airport, which is the second busiest airport after Iran's capital Tehran, is about 8.5 million.

Direct flights from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Mashhad Airport are available. Some of the facilities within the Mashhad airport terminal are car rental companies, travel agencies that you can find information on in-city transportation, and where you can get your tickets for the train or bus, food and beverage and recreation areas, banks and ATM machines, exchange office, tourist information counters, souvenir shops and duty free shops.

Located along the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan’s capital Baku is a rising star in the East gaining notoriety for its oil, gas, and caviar. Baku is a city that attracts the attention people migrating from Asia and other countries in the region, and businessmen from all around the world.

The city’s only airport is the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, named after the National Leader and third President of Azerbaijan. The airport serves 5 million passengers annually. You can get to the airport, which is located 25 km away, from the city center by car or a combination of the metro and airport buses.

Airport Buses

From the airport there are buses that provide transportation to Vurgun Park on 28 May Street, that run every 30 minutes. These buses take approximately 50 minutes and are very affordable. Bus line 116 takes off from the 1st floor of each terminal. Vurgun Park is the last stop on the bus line. From here the Gobustan National Park along the Caspian coastline is 15 minutes away on foot. The Old City is 2.5 km away. You can get there by taking bus lines 120 or 124 in about 25 minutes.

Metro

Baku’s metro network dates back to the 1960’s. Out of the two metro lines unfortunately neither connect directly to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. From the airport you can take bus line 116 to Koroglu Metro Station; this bus ride takes about 35 minutes. From the Koroglu Metro Station you can get to other central locations in the city like 28 May Street or the Old City. Azerbaijan’s largest stadium, Tefik Bahramov Stadium, is also located on this line.  

Taxi

To get from the airport to the city center you can also take a taxi. Taxi stands are located at the terminal exit. Taxis from the airport to the city center take around 20 minutes and will cost between 15-20 Azerbaijani Manat. You can also book a luxury transfer service. Fares for luxury transfer services start from 65 Azerbaijani Manat.

RENTAL CARS

Renting a car to get from the airport to the city center and to get around within the city is a great idea. The city is frequented by a lot of businessmen who usually choose to rent a car. Traffic in the city is mild and fuel is cheap so it makes renting a car an even more attractive option. The airport features a rich variety of rental car options. There are many vehicles to choose from, from luxurious vehicles to standard ones. To get to the city center follow the airport road to the Boyuk Shor Highway. This highway will connect you to Heydar Aliyev Avenue, after the Ziya Bunyadov Avenue junction. Heydar Aliyev Avenue will connect you to the Old City and central Baku.

Although it is not very large Heydar Aliyev International Airport is an important junction, especially for passengers traveling between Europe and Asia. The airport offers passengers a variety of eating, drinking, and shopping venues.

The airport has 2 terminals, Terminal 1, which was completely renovated, and Terminal 2, which serves domestic flights. The airport contains world famous fast food chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, and KFC, as well as restaurants that offer delicious flavors unique to Azerbaijani cuisine. The international terminal has a large Duty Free shop as well as souvenir shops where you can buy items unique to Russian and Azeri culture. The airport features free wireless internet connection.
