Transportation to Airport from Bogota City Center
El Dorado Intl. Airport
Bogota Airport serving in Bogota, which is considered to be one of the most important centers of South America, is also known as El Dorado International Airport.
Fast and convenient taxis are one of the most recommended vehicles to come to the airport from Bogota's center. If you do not want to take a taxi, you can come to the airport without difficulty by buses among the public transportation alternatives. However, buses are not the safest way to get to the airport in the city, especially at late hours in the night.
If you wish to travel to the airport at your convenience, you can also rent a car in the city and you can be in front of the airport terminal in a short time with the vehicle you rent. Private shuttles are both fast and extremely comfortable on this route, but the fees for these vehicles are a bit high compared to other alternatives in Bogota.
Taxi
Bogota is a city where taxis are often used to come to the airport from the city center, especially by foreign visitors. One of the most important reasons for this is security. Buses and other public transport can be problematic in terms of security, especially for those taking the road in the late hours. Traveling by taxi is both safe and extremely budget-friendly compared to many cities. The cost of getting to the airport with these vehicles in Bogota is about $ 15, although it varies according to the point where you take it. You can talk to the driver before you head out to the airport from the center, and you can also offer to negotiate at a fixed fare.
Bus
While buses are an alternative that can be used by those visiting Bogota many times, the first-time visitors of the city should be careful taking these means of public transportation. The main reason for this is the security problems that are experienced in the city from time to time. If you have traveled to the city before, you can take one of these buses in the airport direction from the stops and arrive at the airport terminal in half an hour or 40 minutes. The fare you pay for the buses varies between 6-8 dollars for each passenger.
Car Rental
Renting a car from Bogota city center is also an ideal option. You can board on your flight in minutes after delivering the car that you rented from the city center at the offices of companies like Hertz, AVIS or Europcar which have offices in Bogota Airport, where you can rent a car from the center. However, you must first contact and inform your car rental office in Bogota.
Shuttles
Some hotels in Bogota also offer extra charged or free airport shuttle service to their passengers. If you have booked one of these hotels, you can arrive at the airport in a very short time with the shuttle provided by your hotel. If your hotel does not provide this service, or if you are not staying in the city, you can also book one of the shuttles that bring you to the airport picking you up from your door. The airport shuttles you can use in Bogota are both comfortable and economical especially for those traveling in groups.
Airport Information
Bogota Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in South America, welcoming its passengers 15 kilometers west of Bogota city center. The airport, which has continuous flights to other parts of the continent and the world, consists of two different terminals.
You can easily travel with shuttles between the two terminals of Bogota Airport, also known as El Dorado International Airport. At the airport you can spend time shopping, eating or drinking something.
El Dorado Airport also has currency exchange offices and ATMs for your money exchange transactions and offers internet connection as a paid service. If you need a hotel to stay around the airport, you can contact the airport counseling desk or contact taxi drivers to find a suitable hotel nearby.
Transportation to Venice City Center from Airport
Venice Marco Polo Airport
Venice has two airports, "Marco Polo" and "Treviso", but a significant number of international flights, including flights from Istanbul, are landing at Marco Polo Airport.
From the airport to the city center you have many options such as train, bus, taxi, vaporetto, car rental and water taxi.
Bus
There are two options for transportation from the airport to the city: "ACTV" buses operated by municipality or privately operated "ATVO" buses.
ACTV buses operate from 4 am to midnight every day of the week, between Rome Square and the airport. The journey lasts 25 minutes. Tickets can be picked up from the vending machines at the airport terminals. ATVO buses also work on the same line as ACTV. The bus departing from the airport operated between 7.50 am and 11.50 pm. The duration of the journey is almost the same as ACTV. If you will be staying somewhere outside Venice city center, like Mestre, you can use other routes of ATVO and ACTV.
Vaporetto
It is very enjoyable to get to the Venetian islands from the airport with the small sea buses, which are called "Vaporetto", run by the company "Alilunga" because you will start living the Venetian atmosphere as soon as you enter the city. There are 3 separate lines - red, orange and blue; which one to choose depends on your destination. Therefore, it is advised for you to consult your hotel about which line to choose and which stop to get off before you arrival. The journey with these would not be very short. It depends on your destination, but it lasts more than 1 hour. You can get tickets from your arrival terminal. You can reach the pier of boats after a 10-minute walk from the terminal exit.
Train
While the most convenient way to get to the city center of Venice is by bus and vaporetto, you still have the option to take a train. You only need to take a taxi or bus to get to the main railway stations from the airport. With the buses from the airport you can go to the Mestre station in 20-25 minutes and to Santa Lucia station in 35 minutes. Then you can reach the different points of the city by train. It is not a practical and preferred method as you need to change two vehicles with this way.
Taxi
There is a taxi company named "Radio Taxi" at the airport. You can make reservations in advance or take a taxi to the city center or other area upon your arrival. Taxi fare would be around 40 euros to Rome Square, and 35 euros to the center of Mestre from the airport.
Car Rental
You can rent a car from the lower floor of the arrival terminals. Here you can find a total of eight company offices such as Avis, Europcar, Autovia, Autoeuropa, Maggiore, Sixt, Lacauto and Hertz. If you will only be visiting Venice city center, renting a car is not a recommended option, because you cannot take your car to the city center, where you can travel with boats or by foot. If you rent a car from the airport, you need to park it in the parking lot at the Rome Square.
Water Taxi
The water taxi, which is the most elegant and most expensive way of going to the center of Venice from the airport via the canal, is another alternative. When you book in advance, it can be a bit cheaper, but the average prices vary between 80 and 125 euros depending on where you are going.
